Moonswept

Across the vastness of the night
A maiden sweeps the swirling dust
That sprinkles out upon the banks
Along the glimmering Milky Way.

She polishes the hanging lights
The jeweled glowing comet lamps
And smooths the velvet billows of
The black expanse that holds the sun.

She spins and spools the golden thread
for constellation tapestries
Embroidering their graceful plots
To keep the outlines crisp and bright.

She tunes the music of the spheres,
Their melodies and harmonies
Until the planets in their arcs
Hum under thrall of their refrains.

Then charmed by astral lullaby
And captivated by the dance
Content, she climbs into the crook
Of crescent moon to dream the dawn.
