Imagination Revisited

Imagination is…

A caravan of camels, an oasis of vibrant life
enveloped by vast lands of nothingness and drought.
Carried along by an unseen hand.

Through scorching winds it presses,
Concealing a wealth of nourishment,
preserving vitality in the fever of barren expanse.

Dry and thorny weeds that show no hint of mercy can sustain it,
pressing onward towards illusive cities,
inhabited by ghosts and dreams alone.

It spits in the eye of limitation, untempted by the jaded mirage.
Unshackled by borders, it bears its gifts to those who wait,
carrying them to the pools of the fountain of myth.

Where they may drink their fill…

My final assignment (!) for my poetry class was to revise a poem I’d written for one of the earlier prompts. If you want to compare with the original version you can find it here.
