Down By the Creek

Down by the creek, down by the creek

Where the grass is high and the water is sweet

Ripple, babble, babble, bubble, down by the creek

With a stick and a rock and a skip and a walk

Scramble down the bank, kick off your shoes and socks

Straight from the spring, water cold and clear as anything

Down by the creek, down by the creek.

Stick your feet in the water hole, can you catch a tadpole?

Then make a mud pie. Don’t get it in your eye.

Watch out for snakes! Lay in the sun and bake.

Down by the creek, down by the creek

Where the grass is high and the water is sweet

Ripple, babble, babble, bubble, down by the creek

Climb around the rocks and moss, skip a stone with a toss

Count the skips until they stop, climb until you reach the top

Slip down a slimy side, current takes you for a ride.

Down by the creek, down by the creek.

Splash around with your friends and wish the day would never end

Shoo away a horse fly, pale moon in the blue sky.

Soon it will be getting dark, fireflies take a lark.

Down by the creek, down by the creek.

Wind in your hair and mud on your feet

Hungry and tired and feelin’ complete.

Down by the creek, down by the creek

Where the grass is high and the water is sweet

Ripple, babble, babble, bubble, down by the creek
